Understanding your next steps

How we can help

Joining family or building a life here

We advise on family applications, children joining parents, private life, settlement and British citizenship. A partner visa, a dependant visa and a citizenship application have different requirements. We start by identifying the right application for each family member.

Work, business and study

For individuals and employers, the questions include sponsorship, the proposed job or course, finances and permission to bring dependants. Several old Tier routes have changed name or closed. The pages below explain the current position and the options that may need checking.

Refusals and protection claims

If you have received a refusal, bring the complete decision and the date it arrived. Administrative review, an appeal and judicial review are different procedures. If you fear persecution on return to your country, tell us at the start so we can discuss asylum advice.

A clear way forward

What happens next

  1. Start with the dates

Send your nationality, current location, immigration status and any expiry, refusal or hearing date. We will explain what we need before reviewing the merits.

  2. Build the evidence

We identify the documents relevant to your route, explain gaps and agree the work involved. Previous refusals and periods outside the UK should be included.

  3. Agree the next step

We explain the application or challenge, the likely timetable and the costs before you decide whether to instruct us.

Fees and timescales

01 / Fees

Fees and costs

Ask for a written quotation for your particular application. We will distinguish legal fees from Home Office charges, any healthcare surcharge and other costs such as translations or an interpreter.

02 / Timescales

Timing and preparation

Preparation and Home Office processing are separate. Allow time to obtain documents. A refusal or an expiring visa may need much faster attention, so mention any deadline when contacting us.

Read our published Price Guide, then contact us to confirm the work you need and the costs involved.

Useful to know

Your questions, answered

Do I need to know the name of my visa route?

No. Tell us what you want to do and provide your current status documents. We can identify the route that needs to be considered.

Can you help if I have already been refused?

We can review the decision and explain the available options. Please send every page of the refusal and the date you received it.

Does every family member use the same application?

Not necessarily. Age, nationality and existing status can change the application needed. We check each person rather than assuming one application covers everyone.

Will using a solicitor guarantee a visa?

No. The Home Office decides applications. Our role is to assess the requirements, prepare the evidence and explain any weaknesses before submission.
